LPS stimulated the expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 by binding toTLR-4. iNOS produced enormous nitric oxide (NO) that stimulated COX-2 activity and prostaglandin E2 which further induced the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines leading to inflammation. ALK-F of A. vasica could attenuate iNOS and COX-2 gene expression reducing NO production.

Our findings could suggest the use of AS for treating lung disorders through a mechanism involving SIRT1 expression.
