It was found that the Dextran-PNIPAM+Dox nanofluid in contrast to Dox alone showed higher toxicity towards HeLa cells, whereas the SWCNT+Dox and GO+Dox nanofluids protected cells from Dox.

The impact of bio-nanomaterials XCELLigence-cytotoxicity testing. A non-invasive in-vitro monitoring process that mimics exact continuous cellular bio-responses. However, to expand and affirm consumer safety concerns of bio-nanomaterials, additional XCELLigence data is required for bio-nanomaterials toxicity protocols and methodological development.

MG63 and GMS Cell exposure to the control PEO and melted PEO (80°C-treated samples) demonstrated no cell toxicity, however cell exposure to 180°C-treated samples exhibited severe cell toxicity that is attributed to the byproducts remained of the PEO thermo-oxidative degradation. Cytotoxicity of the manipulated PEO is independent of its molecular weight.
